Hey! Tell us about yourself and a fun fact.
Amanda: I grew up in Toronto and have always loved to draw and paint. Although my background is in Computer Science, I enjoy dabbling in design on the side.
Fun fact: I have an art Youtube channel with 50k+ subscribers (check it out if you want: https://youtube.com/sugartensai)
David: I also grew up in Toronto, and have been programming since I was 11 or 12. In my spare time, I enjoy alpine skiing, though I haven't been able to do that much recently!
Fun fact: I used to be super involved in virtual reality tech around 2014-2015 when the Oculus Rift developer kit was released. What motivated you to start Perfect Recall?
David: At my previous startup, keeping track of what happened during calls and relaying the findings to my co-founder was a pain in the butt. I also have a terrible memory. So we built out an MVP of a product that just recorded and transcribed our calls.
Since then, it has grown to include time stamped note-taking, video clip highlights and much more. Now you can highlight the transcript to highlight and create a video clip - no editing tools needed. How do you acquire users and grow Perfect Recall?
Amanda: We made this product for ourselves at first, to use as startup founders and found that a lot of other founders had been experiencing the same problem - and so our initial users were basically all other startup founders. We gained some inbound of a few sales and UX researchers, but our customer base was basically homogenous. It seems like for startup founders, taking notes during calls, and keeping them organized is a universal pain.
From our first public launch we gained a lot of different types of users which kicked off discoveries of new use cases for Perfect Recall. We're now exploring these new use cases and doing more targeted outreach to learn more about these different customer groups we've never considered before. What is your future goal?
David: We definitely want to support more call platforms, like Google Meet, Webex, and more, since right now we only support Zoom.
In the future, we believe that remote work will be more prevalent. In fact, we know teams that are transitioning to remote permanently now.
There are lots of activities that happened mainly in person before COVID, like user interviews and sales demos, which are done totally remote now. There are advantages to having these types of events be remote, most notably the ability to record them. That's where Perfect Recall comes in. We envision our product to be the knowledge base for your video conversations.
Whether you want to revisit something important a customer has said to you, or you want to share your sales pitches with your team, we want to be able to capture these moments that matter for you.David: We offer a $10 credit for each referral that subscribes.
