Meet-a-Mojito
Hey! Tell us about yourself and a fun fact.
My name is José. I'm the CEO and Co-founder of Krew. I used to launch consumer products at Google, both software and hardware.
I moved to McKinsey to work on growth strategy, and eventually worked for a data solution company on complex data solutions.
Fun fact: I used to do crossfit, and windsurf. I like to bring together my passion for exciting consumer experiences, complex data products and fitness.
What motivated you to start your company?
We found a massive gap between fitness professionals and consumers. It is the perfect time to launch something in this space. In order to let you know what is happening, only 13% of people in the world intend to keep going back to the gym.
Everyone else has drastically changed their way of workout. During the pandemic, 6 million more people exercised every day than before.
On the other hand, we have hundreds of thousands of fitness professionals unemployed. Therefore, we have created a platform where they can connect according to the interests of consumers and the skills of professionals.
We have a revolutionary technology to create dynamic peer-to-peer networks. The video did not pass the cloud server. It only goes from you to other participants.
Your connection will be used throughout the session. Therefore, we can pass on the savings to our customers and adopt more platform methods instead of monthly subscriptions. It’s faster, lower latency, higher quality and more privacy. This technology can help us to stream any content built on the basis of load balancing in real time.
All the artificial intelligence we want to add to it, motion tracking is coming soon. In addition, hardware detection, oxygen condition. No matter what you use, we can provide you with a great experience. Even if your connection is poor, we can reduce the burden and distribute it somewhere in the network.
You don't need a $3,000 dollar peloton bike. We also talk about disintermediation. There are fewer and fewer things to go from both the supply and demand sides.
As a consumer, you have to pay to get to the physical gym and go there in person. As long as you have a device that can access the internet, we will not ask anything.
If you have a camera. Fantastic. If you do not want to activate the camera, we can still perform motion tracking.
We can distribute across the entire network of the supply side, allowing all professionals who have the right qualifications to provide services. It is our responsibility to create a good user experience, so rather than produce high-quality videos and perfect professional lightning.
What we want to do is provide a more powerful core experience, in which things such as leaderboards, and then things like post-estimation and post-correction are built right there. You need to press a button on the video stream itself.
This is the ultimate freedom, which allows people to be truly created with their offer, and how they think their courses make them truly engage into a remote new world.
How do you acquire users and grow your company?
Anyone will tell you that growing in the marketplace, and this is one of the hardest things. Therefore, you must do two things to build a proper product.
One is constrained. We chose to focus mainly on fitness aspects and high-intensity courses, which take full advantage of this kind of motion tracking.
The second thing we need to do is to focus on the supply that has its own demand. Fitness and health is a very crowded and rapidly growing field, but it is also very fragmented. There’s no large aggregator, perhaps ClassPass.
We offer a mix of amazing experiences for customers and professionals. So how are we going to people? Well, you know the things that don't scale. We're trying to get the perfect experience with a core group of people who already have certain needs.
People want to meet other friends or acquaintances, because when you do, the experience will be more interesting. I think this may be the right way depending on the wheels turning organically.
What is your future goal?
We want to be the go-to-community for health and fitness. People enjoy the most in the remote world, which is a sense of community.
We have done a lot of research with family and friends. Seeing your mom in a different state because of the pandemic. You just spent some time seeing her on the screen. I like working out with her. This is one of the greatest pleasures of the day.
Thereby we have our own friend group and create a healthy competition. Not only against others, but also against yourself by working with people on the leaderboard.
We want to be the Amazon prime of fitness. We are showing you the prime video. We have a meal plan or nutrition plan builder who can use them without paying.
We are moving in another direction because we have been working hard to expand. A personal trainer can refer you to someone, your physical therapist, geneticist or similar. But do they know exactly what you need?
They can easily find it on the platform and there is no competition. If you want something as special as the prenatal yoga, a female laboratory, which needs to start at 11:35 Pacific time. We also hope to be able to provide this information.
Now, people are yelling into the internet. What we mean is that it’s much easier to stand on top in your field. Today, it has become more professional. What are you good at? What do you like? We make it possible for you to work with people who have certain needs.
Anything our readers should know?
People might wonder why now? Although this seems like a hard market, there's no such a thing as a mass life experience. There is a huge demand on YouTube. Because people can get workouts, but not on a large scale.
Nothing can cover the actual category of the closest live stream. We are indeed creating a large-scale livestream category.
Dominating this market is risky, because our technology gives us amazing unit economics. Anyone who tries to replicate this experience will have to lose money for years until they find a way to make a profit. Then, everything else depends on the creativity and ambition of our professionals.
