🤝 Virtual Mojito Live 016 - Do we want another virtual workspace?
Virtual workspace, Customize your background, Team collaborations
Hello community,
Leading a remote team requires a lot of effort. Many business leaders try to do the same thing like we see each other in the office.
What Erin Meyer said in 2016 inspired me to think again. Some remote teams cannot work normally because:
More and more cultural differences are affecting us, but we choose to make it less important
There is no mutual trust (cognitive trust) with teammates or stakeholders if you can’t see them
No matter where we are, business leaders have a responsibility to establish a safe environment. You should always maintain a trust system with the people you work with. Not a tool.

Meet-a-Mojito
Hey! Tell us about yourself and a fun fact.
👋 Hi there, Justin here! I was previously a Team Lead at an HR software company. I left my job during the pandemic to bring back the fun with CrowdParty! Here's the thing: the pandemic was such a curveball that it made me think that the world could end at any moment. So I thought I might as well live out my dreams! When I'm not coding, you'll find me working out, learning the piano, and reading all sorts of books (currently: Be Water, My Friend)!
What motivated you to start your company?
What's that quote again? Necessity is the mother of invention or something like that?
At my last job, I saw how much working remotely had impacted the company culture. So, I made it my mission to bring back the fun.
At one point, I had to organize a Happy Hour with over eighty guests. How in the world was I going to make that work? Well, I got creative and whipped up a Google Slides presentation with Trivia and Charades. By the end of it, people were laughing, sharing jokes, and were talking to people whom they've never met before! On that day, CrowdParty was born!
How do you acquire users and grow your company?
We first launched the prototype on Reddit's /r/freegames and to our surprise, we made it as one of the top posts! We also just launched on Product Hunt!
CrowdParty has a network effect where players can host their own games later on.Our North Star is to create experiences so fun and so easy that players will naturally share CrowdParty with their co-workers and friends. Fun moments are memorable! 😉
What is your future goal?
Right now, a lot of our users are using CrowdParty in the context of remote work. In the future, we're envisioning usage for physical events as well, be it in offices, classrooms, or event spaces.
We're also currently working on some exciting games, which we'll be releasing soon, so stay tuned!
Anything our readers should know?
With CrowdParty, you can host, play, and create your own games for free! Our Passes will allow you to accommodate larger group sizes and longer games!
We're currently offering 3-months free for enterprise licenses, no questions asked! Say hello: https://form.typeform.com/to/ConI6Oco Let's bring back the fun, together!

Virtual events that you should not miss
04 Feb - UX & Product Conference 2021
New ideas happen when old ones are challenged and debated. So instead of having speakers run through the same talks that you can probably find on Youtube anyway, the UX & Product Conference is built around a new format we call 1-2-Everyone:
Speakers will come in pairs. Each of them pitches their view on a topic, followed by a moderated debate and a group discussion.
