What I learned from Janet, Co-founder of Athena / Virtual Mojito Live EP028
We've a new look again, here's why and what you need to know!
Hello community,
We’ve a new look. AGAIN!
It was a nightmare when I noticed that my previous site provider was down. I can’t wait, so I migrated everything to another service and used this opportunity to launch Virtual Mojito 4.0. You’re going to love it!

Meet-a-Mojito
Hey! Tell us about yourself and a fun fact.
I'm one year in and feel like a newly-minted founder. I love travelling and doing outdoorsy things like biking and diving though I'm quite uncoordinated and you probably don't want to do any of those activities with me.
What motivated you to start your company?
Tamara and I wanted community platforms to feel more personable and make it easier for members to find their tribe. Tamara and I met in OnDeck and Slack is very active but really hard to really get a feel for people. We decided to bring asynchronous video through Q&A into Slack and Circle to bring familiarity and authenticity.
How do you acquire users and grow your company?
Our product has a built-in network effect. The more communities use Athena and members watch videos of other members, the more members reach out asking to use Athena for their own communities and audiences. We didn't think about this being one of the main channels when we first started. It's been really fun seeing the virality.
What is your future goal?
We're thinking about creative ways to use video such as with introductions and async AMAs for members to learn more about each other before jumping on a live 1:1 or event.
Anything our readers should know?
We're actively seeking more beta users who have communities in Slack or Circle. We have some huge communities and course creators getting creative and engaging their communities. We can be reached at janet@joinathena.co
